Barons de Rothschild Vintage 2012 is a “complete” wine that combines power with a beautiful freshness.
The 2012 harvest, low in quantity but of a rare and exceptional quality, makes this vintage one of the best of its century.
Presented in a box, this exceptional champagne is ideal for all your special occasions and gifts.
Pale golden hues, slow and generous effervescence.
A complex and spicy bouquet, the first nose immediately reveals a very expressive character rather marked by the Pinot Noir. Aromas of pear, peach and fresh almonds, the finesse of a chalky minerality, typical of the great Chardonnay terroirs. On opening, spicy, brioche-like touches appear, evoking white pepper and dried apricot.
The attack is ample, both fleshy and structured, expressing notes of nectarine and vine peach. This power gives way to a saline finish with a beautiful tension where the aromas of sweet spices are combined with notes of acacia, and bring a great length in the mouth.
The 2012 vintage is an excellent food wine, its freshness and character will go perfectly with langoustine tails braised in saffron butter or crispy veal sweetbreads with morels. It will also be the ideal accompaniment to a farmhouse Brie de Meaux.
Ideal serving temperature : Serve between 10-12 °C.
Blend : 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir. 100% Grands and Premiers Crus: Mesnil-sur-Oger, Vertus (Côte des Blancs) for the Chardonnay; Verzenay, Verzy (Montagne de Reims) for the Pinot Noir.
Vinification : Exclusive use of the cuvée (first press). Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, malolactic fermentation. Long maturation on fine lees for 6 to 7 months. Ageing on lees: 7 to 8 years. Rest after disgorging: 1 year minimum.
Ageing potential : This champagne has a very good ageing potential.
Dosage : 5 g/litre
Characteristics : The 2012 harvest, an unhoped-for vintage: Sometimes icy, then scorching, the 2012 wine year was marked by a long winter, followed by a cool spring with little sunshine. After hail and torrential rain until the end of July, the heat of August miraculously saved the 2012 vintage. The harvest was small in quantity but of a rare and exceptional quality, making this one of the best vintages of its century.
