KrugGrande Cuvée Edition 171 Bottle (0.75L) | Naked Bottle
Krug Grande Cuvée was born of Joseph Krug’s dream to recreate the best champagne every year, regardless of the vagaries of the weather. Since 1843, the House of Krug has paid tribute to this vision with a new edition of Krug Grande Cuvée: the most generous expression of champagne. Krug Grande Cuvée 171st Edition, created around the 2015 harvest, is a champagne of great richness and fine elegance, beyond the vintages.
Perennial and constant, Krug Grande Cuvée is the heart of the Krug identity. Krug Grande Cuvée owes its personality, like all other Krugs, to its birth by first fermentation in small oak barrels: this dimension which marks the Krug style. The Krug exception, a unique champagne. Its methods guaranteeing the highest quality, its 19-hectare vineyard, the strictness of its supplies from 56 hectares and its three million bottles that have been waiting for many years in its cellars make Krug the reference in Prestige Champagne.
This champagne has a pale gold color and fine, lively bubbles that promise incomparable pleasure.
On the nose
Aromas of flowers, ripe, candied and dried citrus fruits, as well as marzipan and gingerbread can be felt on the nose.
In the mouth
On the palate we feel toasted notes and flavors of marzipan, quince, lemon, limoncello and dried fruit.
Krug Grande Cuvée Edition 171 lends itself to a myriad of culinary pairings, from the simplest to the most sophisticated, accompanying everything from an old parmesan to a turbot with truffles. It can be enjoyed as an aperitif with Jabugo ham and mature Comté cheese, or with oysters, grilled shrimp, Indian or Moroccan dishes, but also as a dessert with carrot cake, tarte tatin or cheesecake.
To be consumed between 9 and 12 °C.
Like all wines, champagne can be kept for varying lengths of time, depending on the type. Under optimal storage conditions, champagne can be kept for 1 to 2 years for Brut cuvées, and up to 4/5 years or even longer for vintage and prestige champagnes. Whatever happens, rest assured that you'll never be able to open your champagne too early, as the Champagne Houses only release their cuvées when they have reached perfect ripeness and are ready for immediate consumption.
Krug Grande Cuvée Edition 171 is composed of Pinot Noir (51%), Chardonnay (38%) and Meunier (11%). Reserve wines from Krug’s extensive library make up 45% of the final blend, lending the essential fullness and roundness to each Krug Grande Cuvée Edition.
