Vintage 2012
Like every Veuve Clicquot vintage, the wine reflects the weather and the year’s climatology. The predominance of Pinot Noir in the 2012 Vintage, produced exclusively from grapes selected for the Grands Crus and Premier Crus, gives it the emblematic structure of Veuve Clicquot champagnes, while the proportion of Chardonnay brings the elegance and finesse of a perfectly balanced wine. A small percentage of Meunier completes the blend, enhanced by the use of wines vinified and aged in oak barrels, thus bringing power and aromatic intensity to this cuvee.
Tasting Notes
A brilliant yellow colour with beautiful golden highlights.
Aromas of candied lemons, roasted pears and green hazelnuts and almonds.
The attack is fresh and lively. The first fruit aromas appear, giving expression to the deliciousness of a mirabelle plum tart, candied lemons or even roasted pears. Then appear more refreshing notes of green hazelnuts and almonds.
Technical sheet
Blend : 51% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier.
Vinification : Like each vintage, the wine reflects the weather and the year's climatology. The predominance of Pinot Noir (51%), produced exclusively from grapes selected for the Grands Crus and Premier Crus, gives it the emblematic structure of Veuve Clicquot champagnes, while the proportion of Chardonnay (34%) provides the elegance and finesse of a perfectly balanced wine. A small percentage of Meunier (15%) completes the blend. The uniqueness of the Vintage collection at Veuve Clicquot lies in the use of wines vinified and aged in oak barrels (11%), thus bringing power and aromatic intensity. The wines aged in this way have the effect of enhancing the blend, like spices, giving it subtle toasted, woody and vanilla notes.
Characteristics : As all the Vintage cuvées, Pinot Noir dominates: it comes essentially from the South of the Montagne de Reims and the Marne Valley with Grands and Premiers crus such as Ambonnay, Bouzy, Tauxières, Avenay and Ay. Other crus from the northern slopes are also used: Verzy, Verzenay and Ludes. The Chardonnay comes essentially from the Côte des Blancs with crus such as Mesnil sur Oger, Oger and Vertus, and finally the Pinot Meunier comes from the Montagne de Reims (Ludes) and the Vallée de la Marne (Dizy).
