Mathusalem

It is an ideal format for preserving the best champagne vintages. The Mathusalem is one of the great containers that provoke amazement and pleasure in the eyes… Impressive and wide at the base, then slimmed down at the shoulders, it extends and soars, like a swan’s neck, all the way to the top. This particular shape enables it to resist the pressure of the bubbles and not explode when uncorked. The colour of the glass is also often darker and its thickness thinner. This requires glassmakers to make special moulds for their production. Capacity 6 litres. Equivalent to 8 bottles – between 48 and 56 flutes.
