Rating system
39,000 wines were judged this year by James Suckling and his team of seven tasters/editors, the highest number of wines ever examined in one year, beating last year’s record of around 32,000 wines.
Wines are evaluated on a 100-point scale (rating system established by Robert Parker).
100 points is the highest score a wine can achieve, and is very rarely awarded as it is reserved for the best of the best.
A wine with a score of 95 points or more will receive an A+ rating and be considered a must-buy.
A wine with a score of 90 points or more is exceptional, and will receive an A rating.
A wine rated below 88 points may still be worthwhile, but caution is advised.
Barrel-rated or unfinished wines are rated with two point ranges, such as 90-91 or 92-93.
