The tradition of rosé champagnes is a long one at Mumm. As early as the beginning of the 19th century, Georges Hermann Mumm’s father, a true precursor, produced a highly prized champagne called “œil-de-perdrix” (in reference to the colour of the skin around a partridge’s eye, which is a fairly deep pink). The first Mumm Cordon Rosé was launched in 1952 by René Lalou, president and key figure of the House in the 20th century. Mumm Cordon Rosé was even served at the table of the Élysée Palace. In 1958, the painter Léonard Foujita imagined a rose to decorate the bottle of the House’s rosé champagne. Today, drawn on the cap of 75cl bottles, this refined motif continues to express the freshness and intensity of this wine.
Crafted from more than 120 crus and still red wines, Mumm Le Rosé reflects the richness of a high quality terroir and the House’s know-how.
