« With a great aromatic richness, this champagne reveals all the elegant, generous and fine notes of Pinot Noir. A cuvée that bears witness to the current state of grace of this grape variety, while highlighting more contemporary aromatic facets. » Laurent Fresnet, Cellar Master of the House of Mumm The blend of the 2013 vintage is dominated by Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of the House of Mumm. This champagne expresses the full potential of this noble grape, ideal for long and harmonious ageing. This cuvée is made from the best grapes of the House, essentially from its historical villages classified Grand Cru (Ambonnay, Mailly, Bouzy, Verzy) and Premier Cru (Mareuil-sur-Ay).

The history of the House of Mumm is that of emblematic terroirs and a bold grape variety: Pinot Noir. With its powerful and elegant character, it occupies a place of choice in the House’s historic blends, to which Chardonnay and Meunier add their remarkable floral and fruity notes. Mumm’s first identified vintage champagne dates back to 1842. A blend of wines from the vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, already renowned for the excellence of their Pinot Noir (Ay, Verzenay, Bouzy), as well as the village of Sillery. A style strongly reminiscent of today’s, even if two centuries have passed since then: Mumm’s vintage champagnes showcase the House’s best harvests and perfectly express the ageing potential of the greatest Pinot Noirs. The year 2013 was marked by an exceptionally cool spring, followed by a hot, sunny and stormy summer. The late flowering in July postponed the start of the harvest until October. Fortunately, the grapes were healthy and at optimal maturity.
    To the eye

A pale yellow colour with subtle golden highlights.

    On the nose

This champagne opens with rich and elegant aromas of stone and white fruits, with a touch of pear. Light floral notes give way to generous nuances of brioche, fresh butter and fresh hazelnuts.

    In the mouth

A great aromatic freshness, revealing yellow fruit flavours such as peach and greengage. This elegant balance ends on a long and expressive final note, with hints of Viennese bread and buttered brioche.

    Food & champagne pairings

Mumm Vintage 2013 goes perfectly with fish dishes, raw or in sauce (sole or cod, for example) and seafood: lobster, hot oysters and shellfish. Goat's and sheep's cheeses also go well with it, as well as young firm cheeses. The perfect pairing? A cold starter, as simple as it is refined: fish terrine or sushi.

    Ideal operating temperature

Mumm Vintage 2013 is best enjoyed at a temperature of 10°C

    Potential of keeping

Aged for several years in the House's historic cellars, Mumm Vintage 2013 promises ideal ageing potential for years to come. Kept in good conditions, Mumm Vintage 2013 will continue to age for up to 10 years after its launch. Its buttery and brioche notes will then develop nuances of butter cream and puff pastry.
