BollingerR.D. 2008 Bottle (0.75L) | Box
Cuvée R.D. is the very embodiment of Madame Bollinger’s audacity: an old vintage, disgorged shortly before release, with a very low dosage. A wine always ahead of its time. Bollinger R.D. 2008 with box, with its radiance and complexity, stands out as a champagne of remarkable splendor. 2008 is an exceptional, timeless Vintage.
Vintage 2008: The 2008 wine year is synonymous with an exceptional vintage. 2008 was marked by uncertain climatic conditions: cool weather in spring extending into summer, then the return of sunshine during the harvest. Despite the vagaries of the weather, Maison Bollinger’s know-how enabled it to preserve its vineyards: 2008 proved to be an exceptional year, marked by an abundance of Pinot Noir. The wines have developed important aromas, with lively, powerful Chardonnays and well-balanced Pinot Noirs of character.

On the nose
A gourmand nose with aromas of marzipan. Stewed notes of apricot, honey and breadcrumbs accompany the fresh notes of bergamot.
In the mouth
The palate opens with a rich, precise effervescence. Flavors of mirabelle plum and vine peach round out the citrus notes. A lively wine that unfolds and shows all its complexity. The saline finish, combined with fresh hazelnut, gives it a long, lingering finish.
To pay tribute to the pioneering spirit of Madame Bollinger, who recommended that sommeliers of the time taste R.D. during a meal, the House has selected the exceptional IGP hazelnut from Piedmont in Italy, to sublimate the 2008 Vintage. "Hazelnut is a perfect match for R.D. 2008. On tasting, you immediately notice the saline finish which, combined with the Piedmont hazelnut, reinforces the sensation of length and persistence on the palate", Emanuele Canaparo, Hazelnut Producer.
To bring out its unique style, we recommend serving Bollinger R.D. at a temperature of 12°C, then appreciating the evolution of its aromas as you taste it.
Two tasting experiences are possible:
- One suggests discovering Bollinger R.D. in the year following disgorgement. The wine then reveals a distinctive aroma, with complex notes of fruit.
- The other is to leave Bollinger R.D. in the cellar for several more years. The Vintage will then reveal the depth of aromas of the greatest vintages: its ageing potential is immense.
The 2008 Vintage blend is composed of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay. There are 18 crus, mainly Aÿ and Verzenay for Pinot Noir and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant for Chardonnay.
Fermentation takes place entirely in oak barrels. Bollinger R.D. is marketed just a few months after disgorging with a very low dosage, known as “Extra brut”, only 3 grams per liter. This recent disgorgement guarantees the wine’s remarkable freshness on the palate.
