The Charles Heidsieck signature: Particularly distinctive, the Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve is the result of a demanding and precise blend of around 60 crus (i.e. less than 20% of the villages in the Champagne region), including 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier enriched with a high proportion of 50% reserve wines that are sometimes over 20 years old, a guarantee of an exceptional fleshy texture. The wines of the year, in a proportion of one third for each grape variety (Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir), are vinified plot by plot in stainless steel tanks. The “4th grape variety” time at Charles Heidsieck: The blend can exceed 50% reserve wines, which are sometimes over 20 years old. An extended maturation period of 3 to 4 years in thousand-year-old chalk cellars, well beyond the Appellation’s standards of 15 months.

    To the eye

The Brut Réserve has a deep golden colour. A fine, elegant and persistent effervescence, thanks to a slow and long maturation in the chalky cellars.

    On the nose

The 50% reserve wines give a complex, elegant and greedy nose: freshly baked brioche, roasted notes and ripe, sun-drenched fruits - mango, apricot, mirabelle plum - as well as dried fruits, pistachio and almond.

    In the mouth

The texture evokes the crunch of a thin layer of nougatine on a melting cream, with fleshy fruits, plums and cherries. The smoothness is provided by the selection of reserve wines. The finish reveals amber and vanilla notes as well as a touch of praline.

    Food & champagne pairings

Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve is ideally paired with flavours from the land: San Daniele ham, lamb fillet in a sweet spice crust. From the sea: Tartar of smoked salmon, Monkfish in a meunière spirit, ceps and chanterelles. Cheese: Brie de Meaux / Chaource, Mozzarella Di Bufala. Or sweet notes like a Mirabelle Muffin.

    Ideal operating temperature

To appreciate all its finesse and aromas, champagne should be enjoyed chilled (but not iced). Depending on the cuvée, the ideal serving temperature is between 8 and 12°C.

    Potential of keeping

To be enjoyed from now until 10 years.
