Founded in 1808, the Drappier Champagne House, located in Urville on the Côte des Bar, is renowned for its powerful, characterful wines, housed in exceptional bottles. The family Champagne House is also known for its grand cuvée appellation, Cuvée Grande Sendrée. This prestigious cuvée takes its name from a parcel of land covered in ashes after the fire that ravaged Urville in 1838. Today, an “S” distinguishes this cuvée in memory of a spelling error that crept into the label at the time of printing: “sendrée” became “cendrée”. Its shape is a reproduction of an 18th-century bottle found in the Urville cellars.
    To the eye

This cuvée, made from 90% Pinot Noir grapes, has a shimmering color.

    On the nose

Complexity opens with notes of strawberry, raspberry and violet with toasty nuances. Round, supple, with a lively backbone that tightens the whole.

    In the mouth

Grande Sendrée Rosé is reminiscent of red fruit, fresh and complex. A rich Champagne with great persistence.

    Food & champagne pairings

Ideal as an aperitif or at the table with saffron cream of mussel soup, shrimp salad, lamb mouse or monkfish Blanc Manger.

    Ideal operating temperature

    8°C

    Potential of keeping

Like all wines, champagne can be kept for varying lengths of time, depending on the type. Under optimal storage conditions, champagne can be kept for 1 to 2 years for Brut cuvées, and up to 4/5 years or even longer for vintage and prestige champagnes. Whatever happens, rest assured that you'll never be able to open your champagne too early, as the Champagne Houses only release their cuvées when they have reached perfect ripeness and are ready for immediate consumption.

    Assembly :
With 92% Pinot Noir and 8% Chardonnay, this perfectly-balanced prestige champagne favors power and high expression.
    Vinification :

Exclusively vinified in its prime years, Grande Sendrée’s raw materials and techniques combine all the expertise of the Drappier Champagne House to produce a great Champagne wine.
Grande Sendrée is stirred entirely by hand.
The oldest vines from the best plots are harvested with particular care. After a gentle pressing that extracts only the heart of the cuvée, a gravity-fed vinification with very little pumping and very little sulfur produces wines of remarkable finesse.
