Charles Heidsieck

Blanc de Blancs Bottle (0.75L) | Naked Bottle

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs is the perfect marriage of opposites: purity and generosity. This 100% Chardonnay champagne is elegantly taut, mineral and silky, generous and fleshy. Ideal as an aperitif, it brilliantly combines two opposites: the tension and freshness of young Chardonnays with the generous silkiness and patina of “Charles Heidsieck”. It is mineral and silky, generous and fleshy. Its aromatic complexity is the hallmark of Charles Heidsieck wines.

Charles Heidsieck was one of the first Champagne houses to turn its passion for Chardonnays into reality, producing a Blanc de Blancs from the 1949 harvest. There are also accounts of mono-crus from the Côte des Blancs produced by Charles Heidsieck in 1906… This 100% Chardonnay cuvée, relaunched in 2018, brings together two of the House’s areas of expertise: that of making great white wines, and the art of blending a wide selection of wines from different years and terroirs. The challenge is to make opposites coexist: the tension and freshness of young Chardonnays on the one hand, and the silkiness and “Charles” patina on the other. Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs is blended from first-press juices only and a fine selection of 10 Chardonnay crus, the region’s most sought-after grapes, expressing their freshness in a clean attack and lively finish. Thanks to the 25% reserve wines and 3 to 4 years of extended maturation in pigeères, Blanc de Blancs Charles Heidsieck has a velvety touch of bubbles.

    To the eye

The first impression is of a pale, crystalline gold with some of the reflections typical of the Chardonnay grape.

    On the nose

Ripe Chardonnay aromas emerge: vine peach, candied citrus, with hints of lime blossom, honeysuckle and fresh hazelnuts. A second nose reveals subtle notes of tangerine and lemon.

    In the mouth

Freshness and tension are wrapped up in this typically Charles generosity: the attack is frank, pure, without aggressiveness, with a smoothness almost atypical for a Blanc de Blancs often described as more angular than creamy. The balanced finish is surprisingly mineral and saline.

    Food & champagne pairings

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs is ideal with Carpaccio of scallops with citrus fruit, St Vaast n°2 oysters, and young Pecorino cheese.

    Ideal operating temperature

To appreciate all its finesse and aromas, champagne should be enjoyed chilled (but not iced). Depending on the cuvée, the ideal serving temperature is between 8 and 12°C.
