KrugRosé 28th Edition Bottle (0.75L) | Box
In 1976, with the non-conformist spirit of Joseph Krug in mind, the fifth generation of the Krug family gave birth to a new composition, a daring rosé inspired by the House’s renowned art of blending, to be recreated each year. A blend of 32 wines from 6 different years, the youngest from 2016, the oldest from 2010, Krug Rosé 28th Edition is an unexpected rosé champagne that performs a real balancing act between finesse and substance, thanks to a blend of wines with contrasting characters. Around seven years in the cellar give this 28th Edition its unique expression and elegance.
The Krug exception, a unique champagne. Its methods guarantee the highest quality, its 19-hectare vineyard, the rigour of its supplies from 56 hectares and the three million bottles that have been waiting in its cellars for many years make Krug the benchmark for Prestige Champagne.
Alcohol degree : 12,5%.
At first glance, its deep salmon hue is a promise of elegance.
On the nose
On the nose, it reveals aromas of orange lemonade, redcurrant, cherry stone and raspberry jelly. Notes of pastry and lemon meringue tantalise the taste buds.
In the mouth
On the palate, bold red fruits like raspberry, redcurrant, cherry, blackcurrant, cranberry and goji berry give way to softer, sweeter nuances of crushed vine peach and strawberry salad with basil. The finish of slightly bitter citrus fruits, grapefruit and lime zest, is enhanced by its fine bubbles.
Unexpectedly, Krug Rosé 28th Edition is an ideal accompaniment to tasty dishes, replacing a good red wine at the table with brio. It can be enjoyed with foie gras, lamb, game, white meats, venison or even spicy dishes. Krug Rosé is not recommended for desserts, except unsweetened ones.
To appreciate all its finesse and aromas, champagne should be enjoyed chilled (but not iced). Depending on the cuvée, the ideal serving temperature is between 8 and 12°C.
Like all Krug Champagnes, Krug Rosé 28th Edition will continue to develop over time.
A blend of 32 wines from 6 different years, the youngest from 2016, the oldest from 2010. Its final composition is 58% Pinot Noir, including 10% traditionally macerated Pinot Noir from parcels in Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, 25% Chardonnay and 17% Meunier.
Krug Rosé 28th Edition was composed around the 2016 harvest, a year with weather conditions so contrasting that they became a caricature of the climatic pendulum. An extremely wet spring, with over 70% more rain than normal between April and June, made work in the vines difficult and increased disease pressure. Clement weather followed flowering, allowing the vineyards to recover, only to end with a heatwave at the end of ripening.
