    To the eye

At first glance, Krug 2008 reveals a luminous and intense golden color.

    On the nose

The nose is expressive, rich and generous, with patinated aromas of honey, licorice, menthol, orange peel and grapefruit.

    In the mouth

Lively, intense and harmonious, with a nice tension on the palate, notes of quince, candied fruit and citrus, yellow kiwi, starfruit, honey, apple pie, petit beurre, orange peel, peony and fennel, and floral and minty touches stand out on the palate. Finally, the 2008 Krug offers length on the palate, while being precise and remarkably structured.

    Food & champagne pairings

Krug 2008 is a perfect match for oysters in tartar with lobster emulsion, Parmesan shortbread, Chaource puff pastry with pistachio, rabbit terrine with sorrel, tagliatelle with mussels and basil, dishes prepared with aromatic herbs such as oregano and thyme, white fish in a lemon pepper sauce, and desserts that combine liveliness and roundness, such as lemon meringue pie.

    Ideal operating temperature

To be consumed between 9 and 12 °C.

    Potential of keeping

The House of Krug creates only Prestige cuvées, which gives its champagnes the art to go through the years with richness and elegance.

    Assembly :

For the blend, the wines chosen are those that best highlight the exceptional character of 2008. The Pinot Noirs, which make up more than half of the blend (53%), come mainly from the famous plots on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims, notably those of Aÿ, Mareuil, Bouzy and Ambonnay. The Meuniers (25%), all in tension, bring citrus notes, while the richly flavored wines of the Chardonnay parcels (22%) give a fruity note to the whole.
    Vinification :

After 12 years in the cellars, Krug Vintage 2008 has gained in expression and presents a remarkable profile, precise and harmonious.

The year 2008 : The year 2008 was one of the coolest of the last 14 years, but also one of the least sunny in Champagne for almost half a century. The rainfall was not excessive during the growth of the vines while the summer was dry. This was followed by ideal weather conditions during the harvest. The absence of strong heat during the summer of 2008 allowed a slow and progressive maturation of the grapes. At Krug, the year 2008 gave birth to a timeless Champagne, perfectly balanced between freshness, structure and aromatic richness. The unexpected variety of grape varieties translates into great complexity, and we observed a very broad spectrum of flavors and aromas during the harvest. For the final blend, the Chef de Caves selected wines that reflected the complexity of 2008 in a beautifully structured composition marked by the elegance of that year.
