Moët & ChandonGrand Vintage Rosé 2016 Bottle (0.75L) | Box
Each Grand Vintage is unique, revealing a free and personal interpretation of the year by the Cellar Master. In Champagne, the year 2016 was marked by turbulent and eventful weather, at the mercy of nature, it gave birth to exceptional Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes, which make up 85% of this champagne. Unique expression of a remarkable year in Champagne, Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2016 Rosé with box, the 46th rosé vintage since the founding of the House in 1743, expresses serenity after the storm. It offers a light and effortless mouthfeel, in a summery universe of light and tangy flavours, with great freshness. The overall impression is light and airy, with a nice tension in the finish.
The dress is a moderately deep pink, with hints of bright bluish reflections.
On the nose
The fruitiness is immediately noticeable and pleasant, red fruits in syrup, strawberries and raspberries slightly crushed, warm black fruits of late summer (blueberries). These initial fruity notes are complemented by delicate floral and colourful notes: rose, hibiscus, violet. Some nuances of gingerbread and cocoa powder complete this aromatic bouquet.
In the mouth
The palate is immediately pleasant, tender, supple, and integrated. The fruit is fresher than on the nose, a perfectly ripe raspberry. The initial structure, light, gradually softens to give way to a sensation of sweetness. The finish, slightly astringent, is airy and silky. The overall impression is stretched, elegant, and precise.
We will avoid overwhelming the champagne with overly strong flavours, instead, we will connect it with its delicacy. The Grand Vintage Rosé 2016 will pair wonderfully with reduced juices, a hint of vegetal freshness (watercress, parsley, tarragon, artichoke heart), the evocation of garrigue without too pronounced bitterness, aromatic peppers (Szechuan, Timut, long pepper from Java), bitter ingredients worked into the sweet universe (grapefruit zest candied with spices), traditional cuisine in a modern minimalist version, inspired by India.
To appreciate all its finesse and aromas, champagne should be enjoyed chilled (but not iced). Depending on the cuvée, the ideal serving temperature is between 8 and 12°C.
Like all wines, champagne can be kept for varying lengths of time, depending on the type. Under optimal storage conditions, champagne can be kept for 1 to 2 years for Brut cuvées, and up to 4/5 years or even longer for vintage and prestige champagnes. Whatever happens, rest assured that you'll never be able to open your champagne too early, as the Champagne Houses only release their cuvées when they have reached perfect ripeness and are ready for immediate consumption.
Pinot Noir 43%, Chardonnay 42%, Meunier 15%.
Maturation time in the cellar: 6 years.
Ageing after disgorgement: at least 6 months.
Although the year 2016 was unpredictable with its share of climatic challenges, the harvested red-skinned grapes were exceptional. These Pinot Noirs and Meuniers form the backbone.
