Rare Champagne

Rare Rosé Vintage 2014 Bottle (0.75L) | Naked Bottle

Voluble, with an indomitable energy at first sight, this fourth Vintage Rosé from Rare Champagne sweeps you away in a whirlwind of aromas. It then reveals a caressing, fragrant intensity, both floral and spicy, just like a sophisticated feminine fragrance. Buoyed by the cellar master’s mastery, Rare Rosé Vintage 2014 combines fleshy, full-bodied, spirited energy without sacrificing any of the mineral elegance emblematic of Rare Champagne’s style. Eccentric and extra-ordinary at the same time!

When I tasted Rare Rosé Vintage 2014, I was gripped by its twirling quality and multiple aromas. Its unexpected, eccentric and generous style is very similar to the House’s first rosé vintage, Rare Rosé Vintage 2007.Émilien Boutillat, Cellar Manager at Rare Champagne.

Ultra-expressive, Rare Rosé Vintage 2014 possesses an ardor, bringing it closer to Rare Rosé Vintage 2007. Even at first glance, the Vintage stands out and surprises with its extra-ordinary, dense, slightly coppery color. Then this dynamic subsides. From voluble, its texture becomes caressing, fragrant, both floral and spicy. Profoundly original, Rare Rosé Vintage 2014 then evokes a sophisticated feminine fragrance, like one of those that made the heyday of French haute parfumerie. Its sensory eccentricity enriches Rare Champagne’s expressive palette.

Confusing weather: After a particularly mild and wet autumn and winter, dry weather sets in during March and April, then, after a rainy interval, becomes hot and sunny in June. July and August are excessively rainy and cool. Sunny, very dry weather finally arrived in September, heralding a fine harvest.
    To the eye

Incredibly dense, its coppery pink-gold color foreshadows the richness and depth of its bouquet. The bubbles are very subtle.

    On the nose

It's an extra-ordinary spiral that thrills the nose: intense aromas of red and black fruits and blood orange precede musk, apricot, oranges, violets and rose, even guava. This olfactory richness and fragrant sophistication is amplified by spicy accents of star anise and pepper, and touches of kirsch and brioche.

    In the mouth

Like a sophisticated feminine fragrance, the more Rare Rosé Vintage 2014 airs out, the more extraordinary it becomes in its overflowing generosity. Rose, at the heart of Rare Rosé Vintage 2014, blooms with racy elegance. If the favorite flower of Queen Marie-Antoinette, Rare Champagne's muse, can be found in every Vintage rosé from the House, it unfurls here, in duet with violet, a bouquet of heady, sophisticated harmonies that perfectly complement the notes of red fruit.

The combination of rose, pomegranate, morello cherry and dried flowers first surprises on the palate. Then the palate expresses velvety notes of strawberry tart and custard. Finally, chocolate, pink pepper and kirsch provide a taut, powerful, vinous finish.

    Food & champagne pairings

With remarkable length, enhanced by a positive bitterness, the eccentric flamboyance of Rare Rosé Vintage 2014 is the perfect accompaniment to fine dining. From aperitif to dessert, it goes well with any dish:
    - Vitello tonnato
    - Spanish charcuterie
    - Beef tartare with knife, capers and Espelette pepper
    - Eel matelote with red wine
    - Game with cranberry sauce, crème de cassis and cocoa
    - Flaky vegetable pie, crispy kale and root vegetables, reduced vegetable juice and black melanosporum truffles
    - Red and black fruit nage with sweet spices
    - Strawberry tart

    Ideal operating temperature

To appreciate all its finesse and aromas, champagne should be enjoyed chilled (but not iced). Depending on the cuvée, the ideal serving temperature is between 8 and 12°C.

    Potential of keeping

    Extraordinary until 2034, then unbelievable.
